Our Family of 4

We got an early Christmas present the morning of Sunday, December 20th! I started timing contractions via the "Contraction Master" website (brilliant idea!) at about 1 AM. We arrived at the hospital at about 5 AM and Alex (Alexander Dennis) arrived at 11:53 AM. The delivery went fast. Alex gave us a little scare at first because he did not cry right away. He had swallowed some mucus but was luckily fine after they spent some time suctioning him. Here's a picture just moments after his birth:

Alex's middle name, Dennis, is after his grandpa Creedon who passed away last summer. Turns out that Alexander was Dennis's first choice for Dan's name, but then they obviously decided on Dan. We didn't find this out until after we had named Alex. Crazy, huh? A sign from heaven!

Time has flown by since we've been home and Alex will now be 3 weeks old on Sunday. It's been a challenge adjusting to 2 kids, especially because Alex eats ever 2-3 hours and it takes him 45 minutes to feed. That leaves anywhere from an hour to 2 hours between feedings to eat, sleep, shower, take care of Michael, etc. Overall though it's going well. Alex is a very sweet calm baby (so far!) Michael has adjusted well too to being a big brother and loves to give "Baby Alex" kisses. Here's a picture of Michael rocking Alex:

Whenever I take a picture of Alex, Michael wants his picture taken too. Here's one of them:

Here's a few more pictures of Alex. While...I better run because Alex is crying. More to come later!

The First 3 Weeks

Michael is 3 weeks old on Thursday, 9/27 and has already told Dan and me that he wants a blog, so here it is. Today, Michael had a bath and actually seems to not mind it anymore. Like would be a stretch, but we are getting there. He went on a walk around the neighborhood too. Quite the eventful day. Michael was getting some tummy time and rolled over from his tummy to his back today! Dan, Colleen and Michael in the hospital. Michael lounging with Daddy. Strike a pose. Getting some sunlight to get rid of that annoying jaundice!

February update

Alex will be 2 months old tomorrow! He has his 2 month dr. apt. on Monday so I'm looking forward to seeing how big he's getting. He's been wearing his 3-6 month clothes since he was 6 weeks old and seems to be getting so big to me. He smiled at 6 weeks and rolled over back to front and front to back at 6 weeks too. He likes to have cooing conversations too and is very interested in watching his big brother. We have not mastered the sleeping at night routine quite yet but he's had some good runs of going to bed at 9, waking up at 2 to eat, then not waking up until 6. Michael will be 2 and a half early next month. He is a chatterbox and is always cracking us up at what comes out of his month. His latest is to sneak up on people and say "gotcha." Also, he likes to go up to people and say "I'm Big." Here's some of the latest pictures. His 2 and a half dr. apt is coming up in the next couple weeks so we're also interested to see how...
