We learned on Tuesday that Michael has a very low number of small bile ducts in his liver. This condition can be managed by having him take a specific vitamin each day to make sure he is absorbing the right amount and kinds of fats and vitamins. Babies with this issue sometimes have a genetic disorder, so they ran a test to check his DNA and we'll get the results in 3-4 weeks. There can sometimes be heart issues in babies with this liver issue, so we are going to Children's next Monday for an echocardiogram to rule out any heart issues. We'll keep everyone in the loop! Meanwhile, Michael continues to be a happy, healthy baby on all other fronts.
Michael is 3 weeks old on Thursday, 9/27 and has already told Dan and me that he wants a blog, so here it is. Today, Michael had a bath and actually seems to not mind it anymore. Like would be a stretch, but we are getting there. He went on a walk around the neighborhood too. Quite the eventful day. Michael was getting some tummy time and rolled over from his tummy to his back today! Dan, Colleen and Michael in the hospital. Michael lounging with Daddy. Strike a pose. Getting some sunlight to get rid of that annoying jaundice!
